Can I take my foot off the gas now?

𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐈 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐰?

Years ago, I used to take a few weeks off at the end of the year.

Most people take their foot off the gas after Thanksgiving and coast through December.

Some extend their break well into January.

I assumed most people were coasting, so I coasted through December too.

One event changed my behavior.

When I worked in the corporate world as a network manager, my boss came to me in early December.

“We have a problem,” he said.

“We have $1 million left in the budget that we have to spend by the end of the year.”

Talk about being a kid in a candy store with a blank check.

I immediately called my vendors to share our dilemma.

A few jumped on the opportunity and closed the year with a bang.

Some vendors were coasting and never returned my calls.

Now that I’m in business for myself, I realize some clients have leftover budget money they need to spend.

This is the perfect time to call them (yes some of us still use our smartphones to make calls) or send them a friendly “Happy Holidays” check-in message.

Even better, mail them a card and/or a small gift.

The message gets you back on their radar and top of mind if they have leftover budget money with you.

No need for a hard sell.

Just send a friendly message to get back on their radar.
