Don’t call me old

Every day, some people add me to their email list after I connect with them on LinkedIn.

They don’t ask permission.

They tell me accepting their invitation on LinkedIn gives them permission to add me to their email list.

That’s stretching the rules, but you’ll never convince them otherwise.

I have a specific email address I use for LinkedIn, so I ignore most of the messages.

Today, I received a message from a new LinkedIn connection.

𝑯𝒊 𝑻𝒆𝒅,

𝑾𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒅𝒂𝒚.

𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍. 𝑾𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑩2𝑩 𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔. 𝑾𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒏 𝑬𝒎𝒂𝒊𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝑩2𝑩 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔?

Are you starting our new relationship by calling me old?

While I’m still processing your insult, you cut to the chase and try to sell me an email list?

I won’t share the rest of her email pitch because I don’t want to waste your time.

I get it.

She has a sales quota to meet so she’s throwing spaghetti at the wall to see if…
