Let’s do a promo to your list

This week, I received a LinkedIn message that started with, “Let’s do a promo to your list”

To be fair, I’ve known this guy for at least a decade.

I was a customer at one time when he built custom content management platforms long before platforms like Kajabi existed.

Today he’s pitching a “done for you” LinkedIn lead gen service.

This was not a personal message to me.

It was clearly a long, cut-and-paste sales pitch.

The message was 368 words.

The LinkedIn message contained the full sales pitch with no call to action other than “Let’s do a promo to your list”.

I felt offended for many reasons.

First, we’ve known each other for a long time.

Imagine running into an old friend and they treat you like a complete stranger.

Then they try to sell you something you don’t need.

Second, why would he be pitching me a LinkedIn lead gen service?

Blasting automated sales pitches on LinkedIn can backfire.

I lost a lot of respect for this person.

Third, what has he done for me?
